I switched to roaming on MTN and it's fantastic when it comes to data. The problem though is it looks like I can only use a certain amount of my data on Roaming and not the full monthly allocation.

Do I understand that correct?

Yes be careful of this...I got slapped with R400 when I did this over December!

Haven't heard of any limits...

All-net data is ALL NET.

TM only is TM only.
I had TM promotional data but this was never explained properly when I signed up so can understand the confusion... Went crazy roaming on MTN and then bam! R400 thanks

Yea, that's the thing I'm seeing now too. Luckily I logged in to check. Got a message that I have 365MB or something and I was like WTF?!?!?! Then saw ALL Network, but the Telkom data is still 5GB+

Yea, I'm on the "Freeme" I think. I have 300 odd Any network and then about 5GB still Telkom data

My FreeMe Boost (prepaid) data is ALL NET. Even the free streaming data + WhatsApp data works on MTN. 50% of the time I have only MTN coverage, so I made sure of this.

At home, I can use the 500GB/R50 deal (different SIM) which is TM data only- that obviously doesn't work on MTN.

Some of the new packages with additional TM data you'd need to know which data you're using when I guess. OR, just turn roaming off if you don't need it...

BTW, when I'm out of bundle, I get auto-blocked. Can you enable the same for MTN roaming? IE, you can still use TM data but MTN data is blocked.

Or does running out of one mean they block both?

It's this 10GB / R 139 deal I'm on. I'll feel it out still and see. Seems to have only a certain percentage allocated to ALL Network.

They called me to offer that one too- the bladdy agent couldn't tell me how much of that was all net vs TM only. I think it's 1GB ALL with 10GB extra which is TM only. Might even have been only 500MB ALL NET. :(

are you still in the cool-off period? (does that apply in this case?)

I’m happy with it since it’s mainly for kids phones, whats app and the likes (waiting for fibre at the estate.) but the ping on TM is just horrible for when I do want to game. MTN pings are just amazing. If needed will just top up. Just needed clarity :)

Until last month I used exclusively MTN data. If you're on Freeme then it's all networks data.

You may be wrong:

This is why I asked. I thought it's available for all data. It seems not so. Unless I'm reading it wrong

Running out soon, will see what it does to my bill then.

Edit: Apologies - Says "Smartinternet - 500MB" So I guess it's a Smartinternet package. 500MB being the ALL network data and then 10GB Telkom data.

I'll just load ALL network data for my gaming needs and let the kids use the 10GB allocation :p

Yeah, if it was FreeMe you would have received WhatsApp data, calls, etc and your data would have expired after 30 days, not end of the following month.

Thanks, I see on the website I can change the plan if needed. Just not interested now.

I saw it cut me off on Roaming to inform me my data is depleted.. Changed back to TM and all working. so Should not be able to hit the OOB sharks :) Thanks for all the input guys!
