My living room is quite small. I sit close to the TV.

Looking for something like a 43inch TV. Do not really care about a Smart TV, since I have a Mi Box.
A 4K TV will be a bonus. Looking to spent around R8,000 max.

Looking currently at the Samsung TU7000 series for around R6,500 - R7,000.
But there are some very bad reviews about this range of TV's from Samsung.

Are there any suggestions?

My advice would be to go for LG 49UM7340 UHD Smart Digital TV.

IMHO best budget TV out there at the moment - and it comes with a magic remote.

I brought a TU7000 yesterday from Makro 58" for R7999. So excited. Got home plugged in my xbox 1 x and man did it such. HDR Content is terrible. SO DARK. I sit for hours playing with settings. Went to my old 46C750 tv and played the same movie and it was much better in terms of clarity and brightness. Going to try one or two more things today otherwise it is going straight back.

I bought a Hisense TV less than 2 years ago (11/18). 40 Inch as that was the biggest we could accommodate.
4-year warranty, TV powerboard shot, failed last week.

Terrible support so far.

Edit:/
After a very poor start, HiSense got their act together and repaired the TV for free at my home. They never even bothered to fault find, simply changed the motherboard in the TV -- It turns out there is only one board anyway.

Has anyone seen a comparison site like this? (If so, please post the links here.)

Last year I bought the Samsung 43" RU7100, it's already really good and by reports the newer TU is even better.

According to Rtings reviews, the RU series actually performs a marginally better than the new 2020 TU series. I'd say go for a Hisense 55B8000 which is around R7.5K or a 2019 Samsung RU model (Stax has a few on sale). The new 2020 Samsungs TV's are way to expensive at the moment.

That's strange. Is your TV directly in front of a window or glass door?

I think I paid only about R5300 for the RU about 6 months or so ago on Takealot, but I guess that's lockdown for you.

During lockdown level 4 gettingadeal.co.za had the 43RU7100 for R4499 which was a bargain. Now the 43TU7000 is about R6500 which is such a ripoff IMO considering the size/features/overall performance.
