Just a quick suggestion. Maybe keep the registration and newsletter emails text-based. Some email clients don't show html emails and just show the code (like mine) and I'm sure less tech-savy people will struggle to understand what the hell is going on in the email.
I think it's more important to get the message across than making it look fancy
Edit: Actually looking at it again, it does look quite nice when it's viewed properly. Maybe just leave it and let the minority who have useless email providers suffer

There must be a way to tell an email client if HTML then <format>xx<format> but if text then just XX ?

Edit: If you like it more now, if I change it, the changes aren't complete. I'm going to remove the current header, make it not span the entire width of the page, and make it a softer easier colour.
