Hi
I am currently running a tplink touch p5 router on my fibre . This is connected by ethernet to an airties 4920 and thru that wifi to a further 4 airties units.
I have been given a tp-link ax1500 wifi 6 router.
Do I carry on using the airties or change to tp-link deco?
I was considering the deco x50 triple pack wifi6 units mixed with some deco m5 and deco m3w.
I would like to get use of the wifi 6 throughout the whole house if possible.
I do have an ethernet cable for backhaul from the router to just past middle of the house.
House is single storey.
House is v shape with 2 inner walls in the v being glass.

Before I go break the bank, what do you suggest? Add some more airties if I can get? Or which tp-link deco's are my best option?

thank you.

I currently have the E4s in a mesh and I don't have a reason to move to wifi 6 right now, but when I do make the move, I'll be looking at the X series.

We do a ton of Mesh setups and you have two options.

1.) Cheap affordable gigabit with Reyee (Can do like R2000 for 3 points) I have better experience with these than the TP Link Deco and a few others like Tenda. Cudy also seems promising.
1.) Done properly. Ubiquiti or Aruba, do a proper core switch and then CAT6 to each access point which can be something like the unifi 6 Lite.

Bought the tplink deco x55 wifi 3 packs, Bought 2 sets, battled the whole afternoon to get 56megs out of a 500 Meg fibre line. After some research I found that you can only do 3 wifi hops with them, so trying to hook up 6 is just not going to work. My whole property is around 450 odd meter square so one of these sets should have comfortably covered it.
As a result my airties ar running again and the tplinks are being returned.

Interesting that the Airties are still doing the job... Awesome little devices

Not an issue if you run Ethernet backhaul to at least some of them...

I get better speeds with these than I did with the tplink ax55 wifi6

I use Asus routers, 3x Ac83 and one Rt-ax55, it works mostly, but the biggest issue is Vumatel has been having major hiccups

Also run asus currently but loadshedding is killing it for me. I have to factory reset at least one of the points whenever the power comes back.

Will do my setup again once I've moved and had solar installed but if it happens again I'm moving over to an Aruba setup

Yeah every time I've got to reset the main hub due to Vumatel just dropping comms :(
Not a factory reset though just a shutdown of some of the nodes

+1

But 2 I would recommend if you have > 50 users.

To be candid, purchasing a WiFi 6 router is just one piece of the puzzle; the other crucial aspect is ensuring that you have compatible client devices. While some laptops, PCs, and newer phones and tablets support WiFi 6, many other devices like TVs, IoT devices, and most Android boxes still use the older WiFi standard and won't take advantage of WiFi 6's capabilities. Additionally, WiFi 7 is on the horizon, making WiFi 6 potentially outdated soon.

Considering this, my advice would be to opt for the most budget-friendly option if your current setup is working fine for you.
