Hallo there!

I have an existing wired network with a existing router(Edimax BR-6104K) supplying the internet. I do not want to replace or change the existing router. I want to use the Linksys WRT54G3G router to provide internet to wireless devices from the existing Edimax router.

Please help me!

Thank you :)

you just need to set it up as an access point , there should be 100's of guides on doing this , just setup the wireless on it , making sure it has a differnt ip to your current router but on the same range , and then pluggin it in , if you not running static addresses you might have an issue with two dhcp servers running at the same time , but you could change the ranges of them or just turn one off. you also should set the default gateway to your wired routers ip

Hello Grim147!

Thank you for the reply. Should I plug the other router into the INTERNET port of the wireless router, or in the other plugs? I did the settings and tried both ports with no success. I used a Nokia 5800 to try and connect to the internet via the wireless network, and it connects but gives an error when searching for internet capability on the router...

Regards!

What I would suggest is turning the Edimax router to 'bridged mode', then plugging one Lan cable into the 'Internet' port of the Linksys.
Log onto the Linksys (192.168.1.1) admin / admin in most cases, and set it do do the dialling (PPOE).
Use it's LAN ports that remain for the rest of the PC's
I have a WRT54GL and SMC router with the same setup
