Wondering how it plays with South Africa's latency,

I saw it getting some favourable reviews, but I guess we'll have to see if it's even made available to us.

Hi

Got my beta invite earlier which I claimed on steam, been playing on EU server and no perceptible lag so far that I can tell and I've played all mainstream / semi-mainstream mmorpg's

1) You can block/dodge a enemy right at the last moment and succeed.
2) There are no delay's when interacting with containers or NPC's
3) Other players don't stutter or rubber band etc...
4) Abilities trigger when you expect them to.

Basically if you didn't tell me this was a online game and chat/other players didn't exist I wouldnt know that its a online one.

The game uses Easy Anti-Cheat so I suspect not everything is sitting server side.

Windows resource monitor is showing me at about 230ms to EU Central Server (Durban - Arihost ISP on 50mbit openserve)

Hope that helps someone.

Edit: Enabled a "High bandwidth mode" latency dropped and there is a difference, just clever how its done. Like on picking up flint off a beach in both high and low latency your picking up animation starts immediately but on the lower latency you spend less time in the animation instead of time waiting for the animation to start.

Is it good though?

Is it good though?

On the execution level, yes.
By that I mean how the game feels like the world feels immersive, combat feels like you are hurting what you hit, the ui is clean, a quality product.

However, for example your combat consists of your weapon having 3 assignable active skills, block, dodge, roll, light hit and hard hit. You can equip three weapons. So people who like complex rotations would probably be bored. I prefer simpler with enjoyable execution.

There doesn't any to be any vendors to sell your stuff to so it's break it down for crafting materials or sell at a trades post which I think is to other players.

Pvp is opt in via flag system that rewards you by giving you more experience in everything.

Leveling up skills is separate to character.

The fact that steam price is R409 and not $40 is nice too.

Hope that helps.
