For those of you who have been there, what are your thoughts on the place?? I really want to go there on holiday and check out the place....

Not personally but I have family there. Bssically it's bad weather and dullness personified but safe as houses. If you are into sailing you will love it.

I got family and a couple of friends there, so I do know people over there and they all love it. I wouldnt mind going on holiday as I dont think I am all into the immigrating thing and I cant right now even if I do really want to...

// Awesome - i was their in the middle of winter - and i loved it
// i was assured summer was pretty decent too

Just be careful of avoiding the sheep :p.

I think one of the MyBB forumites lives in NZ right now (forget which one though). Just be aware that the weather is rather rubbish, although of course it is very safe there.

Make sure you spend a fair amout of your time touring South Island ...one of the most beautiful places you'll ever visit. So much to do summer or winter - Base yourself in Queenstown if possible - a bit touristy but very central

OK so there can be a bit of rain but when we were over there November we had a straight week of 5am to 10pm summer days

If you get the chance (along with a booking) and are feeling a bit fit ... try the Milford Track . 5 day hike ending at Milford Sound where you have to catch a ferry out. Amazing wilderness

My folks live there - wanna make a turn next year before I move to CA...

They stay in Hamilton, which they say is like Bloemfontein - size and people's temperment...

I've been to Christchurch twice and toured from there - I had no problem with the weather - maybe I was lucky - one of the most scenic parts of the world and found the people friendly.

Just one very strange road law caught me off-guard a few times - you need to stop for oncoming cars that indicates they want to turn across your bow.

I have family and friends that have been living there - most been there for more than 10 years and they all love it (if they didn't they'd have moved - most of them professionals).

Ja, friend touring there mentioned it, nearly got taken out by a bus.

Been there in September last year for a 2 week tour. Started off in Auckland, rented a car. Drove through all the way to Christchurch. Absolutely amazing. We in SA have a lot to brag about the scenery. So do the New Zealanders!!!! And the people are surprisingly friendly. Give it a try. You will not be disappointed

Ok thanks guy. I am deffinitely going to try go for a 4 week holiday at least but need to start working my internet job first. I am going to london in April school holidays next year so new zealand will be my next holiday destination
