Hi
So, I have the PS3 slimline 120 gig and just yesterday setup the ps3, got myself NFS shift and played with the settings.

I have heard many things, i.e. aboutwhat the ps3 can do but where to start.

I have registered with PSN Home on the network thus far.

What i need to know how to do is:
1. If i want to ceate a network between PS3 and my notebook (XP), how do i do this as i want to accomplish the following:

a. Transfer media wired/wirelessly to and from PS3 to notebook
b. Access te internet on PS3 via my 7.2 Mb hsdpa conection on my laptop

Please keep in mind that i am a newbie and required detailed instructions...

PLEASE

What connection is it? A hsdpa phone or a card?

If you dont have a router you will have to enable internet connection sharing. Right click on the dial up connection -> advanced -> click "Allow other users to connect through this computers internet connection" -> apply

Noob that earns some rep for making the right console decision ;) Welcome and enjoy :)

Don't forget to set the IP address correctly.

:D Of course.

This is my setup with my xbox at home, obviously its just networking so it works the same if you want to use my example.

Set the PC ethernet adapter as follows:

IP: 192.168.0.1
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS: 192.168.0.1

Set the console as follows:

IP: 192.168.0.2
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS: 192.168.0.1

This is my setup and it works fine.

You might need a crossover cable though, not sure if will work with a straight...

Get a ethernet cable and connect your PS3 to your laptop. Then make sure you activate internet sharing on your HSDPA connection in Windows. When your laptop is connected to the internet, go to your PS3 network settings and choose "easy" and click next the whole time. It will connect it automatically.
