Newbie GPS question

So I just bought myself a Garmin 2595lmt, but haven't tested it with driving yet so I've just been playing around in the setting etc. and was wondering how do I get the image on the right of this screen (heres the link http://www.engadget.com/products/garmin/nuvi/2595lmt/) which shows me which lane to be in? Or does it pop up just before say an off ramp?

The image on the right is called the "Function View". This pops up about 1km from the exit you need to take. The "arrows" on the top left is called the "Lane Assist" and shows you in which lane you need to be to take your next exit. These two features is quite handy especially if you do not know the area.
