I am moving to the Cape in May and am exploring all my possibilities. I guess some things in SA are different than in NY. I have a Fortec unit twin dishes all which I will bring and hope to be connected to some satellites. (FTA)
Any suggestions from anybody on reasonably phone/internet/anything?
Communications are important on a global basis.
A dialogue would be appreciated. :) Thanks

If ure lewking to go straight satelite then ure going to b paying through ure ass end.

We do have telephones/broadband(kinda)/and stuff.

Fixed landline: Telkom
Mobile operators: Vodacom/CellC/MTN

Broaband providers.
Telkom (ADSL)
Sentech (Fixed wireless)
Iburst (Fixed wireless)
Vodacom 3g(Mobile Wireless)
MTN 3g (Mobile wireless)

All in all u can get ure stuff here that u ure used to in the states. But big but it's not gonna b as good or as cheap as u used to have it.

Hell if i was u wouldn't even consider moving to south africa if i needed to use the internet as the rest of world does.

U will b raped when u get here by our operators.

An overview of available options is here: http://www.hellkom.co.za/pages/connectivity_options.php

You could visit your satellite provider's site and see if their service has a footprint in South Africa. If not then you could succumb to using one of our ever-expensive local fraudband services :)

What are your specs - speed and cap etc.
