I'm going to leave this now. But I do get *seriously* pissed off by people with comments like

Don't blame the industry - I am not the bad guy here. I quote on what you ask me to quote. If you ask me for expensive equipment, don't imply I am dishonest because what you WANT, is more expensive than what you can afford...

For the sake of argument, please take I as the industry in general.

Yes - there are PLENTY trying to make a quick buck (and R40K for 2KVA systems are a good example), but don't make the entire industry out to be the bad guy... I am honest, DAMN hard working, and I drive around at 10PM at night sometimes being out and doing R20K / R30K / even R120K (Solar) quotes... I (and a hell of a lot of others), don't rip people off. This ***** is expensive, deal with it.

What you are doing/offering Chris is a permanent solution properly wired etc...

Not to mention also future proof in that inverters can be 'parallelized' and you are PV ready to offload your electricity to Solar at any time you're ready and wanting....

Some stuff I read here on myBB truly scares me. Anyways, it's damn cold. Time to go park in front of the fire and get the braai going.

Well this has been a very informative thread, am rather surprised so much has transpired after my initial post.

All I wanted to convey was that the price difference from one place to another for the exact same setup(inverter brand excluded) was terrible, that difference being more or less 20k

In any case, I've decided to rather go the "portable" route, as I'm planning on buying a new place in the future. Will just get some rechargeable lights and Power Trolley, should be more than enough for my requirements.
