News 24 Gridwatch App

Hi guys

I was wondering how was the News 24 Gridwatch App developed (technically). What is the technology used on it? Did they develop a native app for the app stores and then Web app for the computer separately? and what languages did they use etc.

Yep, desktop site, mysql database, native java android app.
 
Funny how popular a really simple to build app can become. Example in point; where there's a need.

We built a Loadshedding app before they did. The fact they have a banner on news24 means their app will be downloaded no matter what.
 
I submitted a few feature requests to them the day they launched GridWatch (FB integration and a few other things). They seem like quite a friendly bunch. Got an almost immediate response that they were already working on it.

That's the POWER of marketing my friend they already have the means to make their apps popular unlike "smaller guys" (I am not referring to you or your company as small) but i am just making a point. The thing is I thought they created it using the hybrid.

NB: I hope you don't chop my head off

Yea, as soon as I saw they made their own I was like meh can't do much now.
