Hello,

Can someone tell me exaclty how to download torrents using local only? many of the guides i see are very confusing as they seem to contridict each other.

its a great way for me and my firends to share the game were devoloping, as they live in cape town and im sutck here in pretoria

you do realise that nntp (news groups) are different from torrents?

that being said, and without giving it a lot of thought, you could setup ftp servers amongst you. i imagine downloads would be capped at the upload speed of the connection from which you are downloading.

there are probably better ways to handle your situation.

whats different between news groups and torrents? i must be some new breed of stupid.

considering you guys are developing a game, which means you are probably computer savy i am surprised that you don't know what a torrent is

You can always use Google Code to upload and download your code. You can force the Google Code stuff to work on local cap too if you're really desperate.

I'm just not sure if you can host a closed source thing on Google Code though. I'm just hosting my open source project, Traffic Splitter, on Google Code.

assmebla.com, sourceforge.net, github.com, ftp, csv, svn, codeplex theres a few possibilities. As for setting up your own tracker to give each other the code, not the best of ideas. But if you really want to go down that route you can look at XBTT its a front endless tracker that is written in c++ and can be configured to scrape directories

well if the crew i was part of wanted to share our project only amongst ourselves with torrents, i would -(in micro torrent) enable DHT, and peer exchange, then create a .torrent with the tracker feild left blank which you'd email or DCC to a fellow member and also tell them my i.p. they would then open it in their client and add my ip manually
