Say a leecher has a 4mbit line. Theoretically he's able to download just under 1.8GB an hour. Lets make it 1GB

The leecher sets his max upload rate to 0kb/s and downloads at full speed for two days before you ban him.

You've just lost 48GB of collective bandwidth to a leecher. Thats just one leech downloading at 50-60 of his line capacity.

Edit: What if they start a pay service like overseas? It will then keep the leechers away, no?

Yes but the big down side of this is that it limits access to the size of your wallet and not how much you can contribute. Also, possible legal implications as you have to setup a bank account which is traceable.

Sorry man, advertising a source is not giving everyone good bandwidth and speed.. especially advertising how to rape the server and bypass controls put in place to ensure everyone gets some sort of speed without killing the server.

Possibly a tiered system whereby leechers can leech from a 'public' area as much as they want. Full Uploades and Leechers themselves serve.. leechers that serve religiously get upgraded and let into the circle with full access to sources and preference to quick uploaders as long as they keep a ratio.

The key, along with setting this up, is finding leechers and uploaders willing to serve

do not worry little childrens... soon news.saix will be as news.is overcrowded

maybe kneetell brings a pay server who knows, or 2010 as its the solution to all problems ;)

I'm a firm believer that open servers with limit resouces should be regarded as protected sources that uploaders can leech from to distribute to leechers.

That way we can use our consumer bandwith to relieve the load off the source.

Unfortunately, its out now and everybody is leeching from the source which killed the server.

then stop b*tching about news servers on here cos u r attracting unnecessary attention, the result of which is more and more people who are going to abuse the news servers, ultimately resulting in no news servers. if you have grabit/newshost questions, do it on newshost.

:) Actually the server good now im downloading using Saix.net
 
there goes another server *sigh*
it must be so overloaded now !!!
