Thanx. Ill try that in the meantime. Although that would mean restarting the phone every time.
 
I don't seem to get any 41.150.x.x IP addresses anymore, only 41.151.x.x addresses.
I guess this must be their short term "fix" for this news server access problem then :)
 
So it's over two months later and this problem still has not been resolved by 8ta.

They did not respond to my PM, so I will try again and email them as well.

I hadn't noticed this up till I checked again a while ago, as I have been using the following script on my MikroTik router, which disconnects all 41.150.x.x connections and keeps doing so, until a 41.151.x.x connection is established.

Scheduled to run every couple of minutes.

But we should not have to do this sort of thing to get around a problem which 8ta should resolve.

I guess having their technical support look at this thread won't quite cut it.

I'll put something together after easter, as there is no way we want them fiddling with a partially working saix news server access right now. :whistle:

so is this 8ta thing still a problem?
I cant seem to connect saix or the telkom servers
 
8ta and news servers no longer working?

Ive been using saix for nzb downloads for quite some time and it usually worked fine, but recently it doesnt work at all.
I even tried using the telkom servers and still no joy.

Anyone have any ideas?
Is it as simple as them resetting something on their side?

there should be at least 2 threads about this. you were lucky it lasted so long. stopped working ages ago for alot of us and was never fixed. back on adsl now.

that sucks, was actually a couple of months ago but since I dont use it regularly just thought it was a network problem
so they wont be fixing it then??

guess I wont be renewing in August then...:mad:
 
Just use torrents as opposed to the SAIX News Server on 8ta. It's unshaped, so why bother with a news server?

somehting to do with the saix server actually rejecting connections from a specific ip range. and 8ta users were included in that ip range. so you could reset your connection hoping to be assigned the correct ip. pi$$ed me off mightily at the time.

how do you reset the connection?
 
I've started looking into this issue again and it may be more complicated than I originally thought.

The 41.151.x.x IP range works fine for me.
The 41.150.x.x IP range appears not to work for the alt.binaries hierarchy, but I was able to get access to some other groups while checking.

I'll post more information later after further testing.

I can't even begin to imagine how to formulate a fault report to Telkom Mobile in this case. :erm:

I have an external antenna and get close to 8Mbps (sometimes more) download on cached articles in the mornings. :D

Later in the day and during the evening peak, those speeds drop way down to below 1Mbps at times. :(
