I subscribe to www.easynews.com as a newsgroup. So far I can seriously say that I have always had excellent results from using them. The cost is+-10$ for 10 gigabytes of downloads a month. They also have a web based interface as well as a newsreader service and two of the really useful functions that they offer is a search facility over newsgroups as well as a PAR viewer which always help in downloading all the relevant bits of a mutifile posting.

Usenetserver.com is $15 per month for unlimited traffic, which is what I do. And they're fast.

Hi Jerek, I see that you are from Canada. You must remember that in South Africa, thanx to Telkom, 10gig is 3 times more than we can download with the 3gb cap that Telkom imposes. These overseas newsgroups do not only provide the infrastructure to collect and store all the newsgroup data, they also provide extra services such as search facilities as well as an infrastructure to cater for superfast downloads for all their customesr. All at a cost of +-R90 a month. Thanx to Telkom my ADSL access(ISP and rental) is over a R1000 per month plus they limit you to 3 gigs of data. People such as Telkom, IS and mweb do have local newsgroup access, but just about every file > 500 megabyte is incomplete. If everybody complains about costly overseas access, maybe they should consider setting up a proper newsgroup server in South Africa??
