I've been using Astraweb - and was in the process of downloading a 1.8GB file, and it was around 95% complete - and then complained about missing articles... I then signed up for a block account with Blocknews.net and got to about 98% complete until the same issue. The articles also arn't found on Mweb...

Any idea around this?

I have tried the various options of the available servers, EU, US, Gen.

I see the file is 363 days old :(

Apparently giganews has better retention - but I don't want to sign up for a 30MB download :(

I don't think its necessarily because of retention. I've recently been seeing the same msg on new d/ls too. (WA NS)

the age isnt an issue, astrawebs retention is up to over 600 days now
it must be something related to ur internet account

How can it be related to my internet account?

The article is either on the newsgroup - or it isnt?

isp issue atleast; pm me with the nzb and ill test it out and see if it works

Maybe the article was just never uploaded? Can you see any comments about the file on your nzb site? I have seen that before.

Yip - there are comments.

I see theres another NZB with the same release... is it possible to download parts of that one to complete mine?

EDIT: I see I only downloaded the 800MB one - so at least thats some saving :)

Hey, just saw this now after replying to your PM. Have you tried disconnecting the download and connecting again? That seems to work for me when I get those "Article not found" errors. Also, try running QuickPAR on the PAR2 files that you downloaded. It may be that you won't even need the other few files if QuickPAR can repair what you have. That works for me too. Usually the PAR files are kept for last when I download. Well, at least, that's how my Alt.Binz is set up.

I'll give it a try - although I have all the pars that were available.

Okay, did you try disconnecting and reconnecting again? Also, see if you can download the PAR files, but maybe from a different newsgroup. Some movies might be in alt.binaries.movies but the same movie might also be in alt.binaries.multimedia for example. You can see the newsgroups they're from in Newzleech and Binsearch.

Found a similiary named file in a different group - so giving it a try quick :)

Thanks for the help as always.

Seems to be the right files - yeh!

Now lets hope its a good movie.

Quick question - do PAR's repair the file to 100% status, or is there still a possibility of data loss?

Thanks - had to try the .RAR file from three different groups -all of them had various levels of incomplete.... really weird.

Seems to be unpacking now though :D
