Hi, really sounding like a newbie here

Can anyone tell me why after installing grabit and winzip i still cant get these news groups to work?? when i import a nzb file to grabit it always says cant connect .......

that's probably because you've enetered your account details incorrectly. Or the news server details. I will assume of course that you also have port 119 open

Hi, im also having the same prob! A total newsserver noob and cant connect. Got an openweb local account and telnet wont connect and neither will Grabit. Tried turning the firewall off, comodo, still cant connect. I can ping news.is.co.za and get a response but cant connect. Any clues?

From around 17h00 yesterday I have not been able to connect to the IS news server. Don't know if it's just the two of us or a more general thing.

gah. my problem was that my router had lost my local account. that must mean about a gig wasted on local from my TelkomInternet account. Gah.
