Rumours have it that we could see a concept version of the Golf GTI at next month’s Paris Motor Show, alongside the regular Golf VI.

However, in the meantime our overseas spies have caught a prototype of the GTI.

These photos prove that the GTI model is entering its advanced stages of development.

The larger grille and air intakes can easily be spotted through the thick black clad camoflage on this prototype. Disguised on these photos are the Audi-styled LED headlights.
So far the talk is that the GTI will get a 158-kW turbocharged 2.0-litre engine.

I somehow dont really like the exhaust setup on it, looks a bit ricey. Oh well, maybe it'll look better without that horrifying camo. :D

Oh as soon as Golf gets the new 2.0 158KW engine, The Opel and the Audi will also have it. It's just a question of which brand you prefer, although they're basically the same car. WTF. That Golf already looks like an Audi when you look at the headlights. Its as if they build all cars of today on a standard template and make just small changes so that you can tell whether it's a Renault Clio or an Opel Corsa.

Lol you must be one of those posters on the New24 motoring site...

VW and Audi are the same group, Opiel doesnt fall into that category.
They not the same cars even though they have the same engine, theres alot of other factors that make up a car.
I can tell the difference between and Opiel, Audi, VW or a Renault... sorry that you cant.

JK8 : The audi and the VW share alot more than just the same engine, they're usually built on the same platform....

BUT even given that, the Audi and the VW are very different cars dynamically.

I know, door handles, indicators, ashtrays, door pins etc etc VAG stuff.

Chassis, drivetrain etc etc etc....

Really? I always thought that drivetrain and suspension and some other things were different in the Audi, the stuff that makes the car "smoother" to drive.
Theres something different when you drive them.

I think that either the exhaust or rear bumper is not the final one. It is setup like that so that the exhaust does not burn the camo covers. The reason I think this is that the gap between the exhaust tips and bumper is way to big

JK8 : Nah, they're pretty similar just tuned and stuff differently...

Its not the cosmetic stuff that makes cars really expensive, its the mechanicals so if they can share lots of the same parts they will.
