I have a Sony A200 with the 18-70mm kit lens and a Minolta 70-300mm lens...

What next?

either that or a wide angle lens. i would like to get a 10-20mm or something similar to that

the one in your mind's eye :)

unless you want an ultra-wide, like the Sigma 10-20
or maybe a fast lens, for lowlight, like chau suggested

only you can answer this question

haha, its actually a bad idea to ask for advice as we're gonna dish out a whole lot of nice lenses and you're going to want all of them ;)
but as Idmelsa says, its up to you. depends on what you're going to use it for

Hehehe Macro/Wide Angle/ or f1.8

Already three nice choices that I want all three.

I suppose it all boils down to price, and I don't have much money.

Get the fastest lens you can afford and use it to learn how to control DOF.

The lenses metioned here are all great, but personally according to me a camera is nothing without a macro lens, so I would go for the macro.

I'm buying a reversal ring to take macro shots as a budget alternative until I am ready to upgrade to a really nice Macro lens.

Where can you get one? I tried the reversing thing over the weekend and I'm quite impressed :D

Anyone used the Minolta AF 50 f1.7?

Yes - and its great.

It offers so much for so little in Rands that everyone should own one. You wont believe how it will extend your photography.

You need to ask yourself what your current lenses are lacking... not wide enough, not long enough, too slow? What type of pics do you want to take?

Look for the the 70- 210 F4, the famous beercan lens. It can be picked up reasonably if you keep your eyes open. Its a great lens -- a bit slow on the AF side of things but produces beautiful creamy colours.

Pooky's got that range:

Yeah I know, but I would rather have the 70 - 210 than the 75 -300mm any day. You could probably swop the one for the other in price terms if you found the old 70-210 at a good price.

I have a lens for the longer reach. For him it depends on how often he uses the that 75 -300 in the greater than 210 -300mm range.
