Hey Guys

option1:
vga 8800gtx to 5870 (or 5970 price dependant)
option 2:
e6700 to i920 or i860

thx in advance

Depends on what you want to do with the pc.

I'd go i7 and wait for the 5870 price to come down. An 8800GTX should be able to play most of the new games out there on low/medium settings (depends on the resolution you game at ofcourse)

Dude  , I have an 8800GT and I can play all games on medium/high at 1680X1050. Why everybody be hating on the 8800's...
Back on topic: That 5870 is very pricey at the moment, sites have put their high season increases on and they weren't cheap to begin with. If you want the 5870 you should wait for mid Q1 next year.
What are your needs though? Are you an FPS counter or do you just want to play with everything looking pretty?

currently playing at 1920x1080 far cry 2 choppy, cryostasis choppy and crysis choppy. just wondering what the best path will be to do first.

Any of ur components overclocked? If not try overclock each individually to see which component needs upgrading.
I would say both

I'd just wait it out and get a new graphics card, your processor should still be fine for games, it's your graphic card that's bringing you down. Wait until next month when more of the 5870's arrive and buy then.

I did say it depends on the resolution he games at!

If you wait till Q1, somebody else is going to tell you wait for some other new card or price drop. There is ALWAYS something on the horizon.

If you want something and you have the money now, buy it.

Get the graphics card and overclock your processor.

Its kinda like a upgrade but u let your friends and family members raid your box for components that are better than what they have :D
