Next Windows: Windows Vienna?

Yip, I got that vibe too when I read it, Fiji definitely sounds like SP1 ;)
 
Will see when it comes out but given that its windows itl probly be even more resource hungry than vista so ill just keep sticking with XP until games/software start forcing me to upgrade.

I'm just about to dive into bloody vista - now vienna? what next - panes?

I don't think they'll release another OS for the workstation so soon, maybe 3 quarter 2010 at the earliest

so they should just stop developing operating systems and leave us with what we've got?

it's kinda funny how in the media they said 'in 2001 MS released windows XP, and only 5 years later they're at it again with windows Vista' as if no one ever expected another version to ever come out. Hell, the gap between XP and Vista is the largest between major OS releases from MS ever.

no doubt it will be more resource hungry, has any new OS or any software release for that matter actually been less resource hungry than it's predecessor?

Anyways, by that time hardware would have cought up and no one will really even care (except for those that love bashing MS for everything they do).

I agree nGaged (sorry, couldn't help myself, I miss nGaged ;) :D :p )

I love a new OS, I'm coming to grips with Vista even after having it for a couple of months. It's got flaws, but the biggest flaw is lack of development for it. Can you believe that even after it's been more than 4 months after it's release, there's not even one dependable third party firewall for it? Everything is still in beta or alpha testing at the worst.

That's my only downside to Vista, software developers are taking their time to release compatible software for it ;)

So, I'll give Vista about a 5 year run, until Vienna comes out.

From a ski run to a sausage :cool: ... ok a city. MS keeps changing their codename strategy ... old days was cities Win98=Chicago, but recently ski runs XP=Whistler, now back to cities :confused:.
