Hey guys, I see this tablet available at Makro. I have a Windows phone and I'm enjoying so I was considering a Windows tablet as well. I'm thinking of getting it for myself and giving my son my Lenovo S6000 Android tablet. Any thoughts? Good idea? Bad idea? Anyone have the device?

Thanks.

Seems like it comes with Windows 8.1 installed, upgrade to 10 is a bit more challenging on a pad than a laptop - some store offers a free upgrade service. Screen size seems to be decent, you'll be able to use desktop programs also. Keep in mind that there isn't all that much storage space left after installing Office etc. Most important aspect is to verify battery life, I find that my pad doesn't last very long at all, compared to an iPad for instance. Perhaps you can post this on the hardware forums to get more info.

Windows 10 version of that will be coming out soon, if you can wait rather wait for that one. Will newer spec'd too.

I'm going to abandon Windows tablets for the moment simply because Windows 10 for phones is coming out soon.

The way I'm seeing things now is that Windows tablets are not the best thing, until they start having sufficient apps for their use as tablets i.e. toys i.e. enough game and 'fart' apps.

Mac and Chrome PCs are not going to take over desktops and Laptops - Windows is running away with this one, especially with the current rendition.

So, if I were you, I'd leave that 11.6" tablet PC. I have a 10.1" Windows tablet and I hardly use it except when I am traveling. My children only use it when there is load shedding and their Android Tablets run out of battery and thus have nothing else to play with.

I am going to buy a full fledged PC with at least a 15" screen because, really, a 10.1" screen doesn't work for me. I use my PC in bed and my Vista branded work PC (upgraded to Windows 7) really is much better to work on than the Windows 8.1 tablet/PC simply because of the size. Unfortunately, in the PC case, size really matters IMO.

Nevertheless, size matters too for tablets i.e. play things. But, in the exact opposite direction. For tablets, the smaller the better. Really, one doesn't want to travel with anything chunky and neither do you want your kids to destroy that 11.6" tablet. Repair costs would just be astronomical.

So, if you want a work horse for work's sake, don't buy an 11.6" tablet PC. Buy a 15.6" laptop. But, if you want a toy i.e. to play monopoly, Angry Birds or Crossy Road on, then buy an iPad mini for yourself.

For traveling with, wait for Windows 10 Phones. They will have Windows on a tiny screen. I'd advise you to wait for the 650XL (cheaper version) or 950XL (premium version) if you need a little bit more screen real estate than your average phone.

You're confusing Windows 10 mobile and Windows 10.

No, that is why I'm am saying wait for Windows 10 mobile/phone.

I see the official name is Windows 10 Mobile.

This means, the operating system is the same only one is for phones and the other for PCs. So, it is actually one and the same thing.

Only devices 7" and below are suppose to get Windows 10 Mobile but I'm still not sure how they're going about it since current 7"+ are getting upgraded to Windows 10.

Sounds like you're making your tablet uses/needs his tablet uses/needs. I don't see how you can say he can get 5.7" phone instead of a 11.6 inch tablet. Those are completely different things.

So I pulled the trigger and got the Nextbook. It's running Windows 8.1 at the moment, but I will be doing the upgrading to Windows 10 at the weekend. So far its great for watching videos, paying a few games. It also runs the software I need for work, however I do have a 15.6 inch laptop for work, so this is more for shorter bursts of work.

I also have a Lumia 1320 so this suits me quite nicely. This tablet is for me, as my son is going to get my old Android tablet, so no need to worry about him damaging it.

Point taken.

I indicated however, that I do use my Win8.1 tablet while traveling. So, there is still a case for a smaller Windows laptop/tablet.

Apart from having different needs I am sure it is more ergonomic even since it has a slightly bigger screen than the Asus T100.
