Does anyone use this?

I have set everything up as on their website but I can't access the dashboard from outside my home network.

I know the server is accessible as I can use Jellyfin on it. If I set the port used for NextPVR as the port for anything else I can log into that service but not on NextPVR.

The port is open on the firewall and the router so that is not a problem. I don't know if I should have the premium app on my phone but don't want to spend R85 for an app that does not solve my problem.

I use NextPVR - it forms a vital part of IPTV system.

You don't need any premium app on your phone, to access NextPVR - this can be done via Kodi, and installing the NextPVR plugin.

What is your operating system?

What protocol of the port did your forward, NextPVR uses TCP not UDP (the default port, as your may know is 8866)
You also to need sure that allow remote access is ticked, as this will allow you log in, but you should be able see the login interface, even without without allow remote access enabled.

I have completely turned off the firewall now.

This morning it would not allow my jellyfin access from outside until I turned off the firewall. It is on Windows' firewall, I did not have issues using

The server is running on Windows 10. I switched from Ubuntu to windows as the NextPVR service needs to be manually started using the .net plug-in. I could not get to activate automatically as with Windows.

Here is the kicker. I set it up on my main computer as well when I was testing it. I just forwarded port 8866 to that computers IP and it logged in immediately.

Past experience has shown me that connectivity issues, is probably caused by something simple.

Check the config.xml file (usually located in c:\users\public\NPVR-data) and ensure that under
<BindTo>127.0.0.1</BindTo> (or whatever it is set to) is set to <BindTo>0.0.0.0</BindTo> (this ensures that the web interface is accesible across multiple networks, not just your own LAN

I run NextPVR on about 5 different VPS machines, (on Oracle cloud infrastucture) most of the instances simply are for removing geoblocking, and and then the streams are sent via Wireguard WAN (Netmaker) to a main NextPVR server which is then forwarded. All my NextPVR infastructure is running on Ubuntu based VPS hardware, and I've never had the issue with starting the NextPVR service manually with dotnet.

There is a simple install script on the nextpvr website

"curl https://nextpvr.com/nextpvr-helper.deb -O" This automatically installs the latest version of NextPVR on a Linux system, and the service is always running.

Thanks.

i am positive I used that script and then it gave me kak about .net needing to be installed for it to work so I installed that and it all went south from there.

I will mess with it again on Thursday.

Thanks. Seems sorted now.

Glad I could help!
Now its just the recording issues to figure out.

Playback of recorded files audio is out of sync, no matter what I do.

Recordings have to be set to start 2-4 minutes after the guide time else it records part previous listing and the correct recording.

It also seems to have a looping issue when recording episodes back to back on the start of the 2nd episode recorded.

I don't usually use NextPVR to record, but the sync issue Could be a ffmpeg issue.

What are you using as a PVR frontend?

Suggest trying Kodi if you haven't already

There are ways to set playback to correct the audio sync issue, but I'm certain you would want this resolved at recording.

Advise you also post on the NextPVR community forum, I've helped countless times there, they are generally excellent

I use NextPVR's player for the frontend. I had it set up in Jellyfin but it kept causing other errors with loading the channels already there and causing the playlists set up there to give errors.

I have the NextPVR app on my phone and TV and that works fine to watch live. The only issue is recording, but I will do more research. I think this is something with my IPTV hosts way of routing, thus the delay. One host is OK the other has the 4 minute issue.

Try using Kodi, and using the NextPVR plugin. Could be routing, or codecs.
I switched to Jellyfin from Kodi. Kodi, I found, is much more resource intensive on my media player, that together with the network connection being unstable made me change.

Jellyfin is awesome and plays my media, manages my library with addins like into skipper etc. Also my iptv plays well with it. The issue is limited to recording back to back episodes. Shows with a single episode and movies do not give the issues.

I will keep looking.
