I have a thing about phones in that I get bored quick with phones. I will get a phone and within months I will get another then another and so it goes on. My first phone in the USA was an iphone 4 then got bored and went to Samsung. I had the samsung S2 then I got and S3 which I gave to my wife and I won an S4. I got bored with the S4 so bought the BLU Studio 6.0 HD phone which was huge.

After using the 6" phone the S4 seemed too small for my liking so started looking for something else. The BLU started to irritate me because it had no 4G Lte so network sucked here at home and on occasion, at work. The S4 also seemed to not have 4G Lte which was a pity and there was no upgrade from 4.3.

I have just bought a Motorola Nexus 6 phone and boy is this thing fast. Bought on thursday and delivered on friday and I am still figuring stuff out on it. Waiting for protective cover to come.

The S6 is faster

I'm in the States right now and bought an unlocked Nexus 6 for $350 off Amazon. The Samsung S6 is nice but costs $700, was a no brainer for me. Looking forward to going off contract

My S6 is still amazingly fast. Fastest phone I ever tried by a long shot. Also cost no where near $700 thank goodness. Cost only about €500 euro in the Netherlands on a contract. Really great hardware and software. Touchwiz on S6 is a thousand times better than previous versions. 1 or 2 annoying software limitations when un-rooted but overall great. The only problem is the full glass and aluminium body makes it really really fragile (similar to iphones). 1 mistake and you can be €150 down on a new glass!

I would love a nexus device.

Would flash CyanogenMod within hours of getting the thing :D

I wanted to get the 6 Edge but after having a 6" phone I didn't want to go to a smaller screen phone.

I read that the Nexus get updates quicker too. This one updated to 5.1.1. The BLU phone updated to 5.0.1 (I think), straight out the box too whilst my S4 stayed on 4.3.

The new Nexus 6 is being announced tomorrow which is why it's so cheap.

100%, was also looking at the Moto X pure which has an updated processor going for $450. On paper everything looks better but in real use, is it worth it? I don't think so, even with 1 year old hardware the Nexus 6 is still a beast and there are a ton of other phones in that price bracket which ticks all the feature boxes. This trend of spending $700-$900 on the latest and greatest phone is getting a bit ridic imo.

My only gripe with the current Nexus 6 is the camera. It's been that way since the Nexus 4 that the camera that the phone is good but the cameras are lacking - slow focus, grainy when not in sunlight etc. I really hope that the new gen have better cameras that can match the Samsungs and iPhones.

I noticed that the apps do not have notification markers on them when a message comes through, is this correct or is there an app or a setting that allows apps to show a notification?

Download Nova launcher and install TeslaUnread, it gives you the same little notification icons as you see on an iPhone.

thanks buddy will look now.

Bought the app. Seems to be working but see that messenger says 2 notifications yet all have been read so not sure what's going on there but its not a big issue. I will check the settings and mess about with them.

Thanks Dave123, much appreciated.

Just go into settings and look for the "unread count badges" and activate, iirc it will then ask you to install TeslaUnread and you can then choose the type of notification icon you want.
