The 5X, purely cuz I just moved from a 4.7" phone to a 5.2" phone so I can't imagine having a 5.7" phablet. And I really like it's specs, SD808 with 1080P is a great combination (the best out there at the moment as far as I'm concerned thanks to the 810s heat issues).
If I hadn't already upgraded and one could get them on standard contracts I'd definitely get a 5X now.

It's the 2nd Gen 810 so the heating issues have been sorted... apparently

Doesn't matter in this choice cuz I still consider the 6P a phablet and thus wouldn't touch it. (I draw the line at the G4's 5.5")
Talking about the Snapdragons was just me further explaining why I like the 5X and love the combination they went with.

I'd love to get a 6P, the specs are amazing for the price and pure Android is the best for updates.

Sadly, the price here in SA won't be R6800. If it's anything under R10k I'll be very surprised.

At R7k I'd save up and get one, but anything much more than that and the value for money decreases significantly.

I already have a better version of the 5x.
mine has a removable battery. and a leather back.

seriously normally I am all for the Nexus devices, but this time I think LG held back a little with the 5x so they do not overshadow the G4.

You have to wait forever for updates though, and that's even if you get them.

What do LG guarantee in terms of how long they'll keep the G4 up to date? I doubt it'll be longer than 2 years.

Google updates Nexus devices directly and will continue to update them for far longer than any OEM would for their flagships.

Lg is still first to update in South Africa...

Not really what I meant.

They'll never be "first" as Google Nexus devices will always receive the latest version of Android before any OEM.

And how long to LG guarantee updates? I think Samsung guarantee 2 years for their flagships, but they take forever to release them. By the time they do a new version of Android is usually out.

not arguing that. at all.
we owned a galaxy nexus. was an amazing phone. much better than the s2 I had.
but when it was upgrade time, there was no option available to get a nexus, so we got an s4 and a xperia Z.
this time around again we had no choice, because the networks do not offer them.
so we waited for 5 months for the g4 so we could get that.
and the SO who used the Nexus every day said it was a better experience for her.

again not saying the nexus is a bad choice, just saying that the G4 is a better buy in south Africa right now.(than the 5x at least)
when you talk 6P I think the mate S is the better buy as well. just so you can mock apple users with 3d touch on android...

With occasionally laggy 2K screen (yes, I've used one and experienced the lag) I don't see how it's superior.

I still think you had a dud, it happens in any mass produced product.
my G4 has been amazing.
the SO's G4 has been amazing.
Akasha's g$ has been amazing.
my Best Friend's g4 has been amazing.

none of us had screen lag at all.
the best friend had a bad battery, but Vodacom sorted that out very quickly.
for a nice side by side. between the two to show what I mean that LG held back on the 5x...

The Nexus range offers a much better software experience than those other devices, in my opinion, however.

Again no argument from me. But lg has so little it is closer to stock then most roms I have used

Only on the cam and RAM, the rest looks great.

Wonder what the chances are of Huawei or LG bringing the devices to SA.

They won't bring it in just like LG 2 years ago. Still peeved about that. Besides Orange not sure whether to just purchase it from a US Google Play Store account.
