Its been a couple of months now. Maybe tags are more readily available now. Anyone seen any at the normal places around the mall or something? Wanna pick some up over the weekend.

I also want to play around with them, haven't seen any around. I hear they possibly wont work with a case, that's a problem for me.

Hotel keycards & gautrain cards work I've tested it but it was always someone else's card so I don't have one of my own. I'll make sure to "lose" my hotel key next time I stay at a hotel.

My NFC works through a soft case on my Nexus 7 it works so well i'm sure it will work through most cases. Thick plastic, rubber or metal cases probably wont work but fabric or thin rubber or plastic will work

Yeah I have a thick plastic/rubber (dual layers) case on my S3, keen to try it out.

I just ordered 5 off ebay to have a little play with.

Make sure you order the correct one that is compatible with your phone.

We have received our fist stock of the NFC tags and they are ready to ship,

We have made them in two formats:
Mifare1k in both round discs and key tags.
Ntag203 in both round discs and key tags.

The Mifare is the most popular in the world but the NFC Forum has decided that the NTag203 will be the standard for NFC rollout, as a result the Samsung Galaxy 4 only works with the Ntag.

We will offer both in two packs sizes

Pack 1 will be 5 discs and 1 FREE key chain
Pack 2 will be 10 discs and 1 FREE key chain

Each pack will come with a sticker sheet these are demarcated stickers that you can stick on the tags to be able to differentiate which tag is for where.

We are based in Edenvale, they will be available from our office, we will have an online website soon and the prices below do include delivery door to door in major centres with a courier.

DROIDTAG MIFARE
5 PIECES ( 5 TAGS AND 1 KEY CHAIN) R 200.00
10 PIECES ( 10 TAGS AND 1 KEY CHAIN) R 300.00

DROIDTAG NTAG203
5 PIECES ( 5 TAGS AND 1 KEY CHAIN) R 225.00
10 PIECES ( 10 TAGS AND 1 KEY CHAIN) R 350.00

Please let me know your thoughts.

What!

You are either not ordering in bulk, or you are sticking a really stupid markup on your tags (or both). In the link above, they are around 0.35 EUR for 2000 pieces for the NTag203. That's R4.51 per tag, vs R33 per tag (taking +/- R60 local shipping off the price). Even with international shipping to get them here we won't get close to that, and I haven't even spent 5 minutes looking around, or gone up the chain to the manufacturers yet. Perhaps it's time to import 10 000 tags and stick em up for sale at a 100% markup (still a fraction of the cost).

At those prices you are begging someone to compete with you. What could you possibly be offering that justifies that markup?

Please don't say shipping or a key ring.

The fact that you only have to buy 5 or 10 tags. What you going to do with 2000 tags in your house. our market is set up for the realistic guy that wants a few for practical purposes. we will however offer considerable discount should you want 2000.

I have just checked the above link. 5 pieces cost Euro 1.6 which is R21.60 with 20% duty you land at R25,92 excl shipping. taking that into account our prices for 5 pieces are not bad. we have stock and delivery is overnight.
