Summary:
Essentially these batteries were manufactured by NASA for use in space and other NASA projects. The short of it is, as the name says it is a nickel-hydrogen battery but it is pressurized heavy and has low power density. But they have a 30-year lifespan and are essentially nearly 100% safe.
It ticks all the boxes for large power storage without the need for any exotic materials.
It is worth the watch. The video is only 14:24 min long. This might be what South Africa needs.
