Morning guys,

Ive been getting calls from a blank line (it does not even come up with the "private number" or "(no number)") its just blank.

The chap whos phoning starts swearing like crazy. what really got to me is when he said "im coming you are mine now". He sounds Nigerian

Just wondering anybody else experienced this?

Im new to this forum so im unsure if its in the right section.

Haven't received any of those. Welcome to the forum. :)

Just be careful and do not switch of your phone.
They can and and have caught/ scammed people by starting exactly the same way.
They drive you nuts with calls, you then switch phone of and they do a sim swop with inside help.
Before you know they gain access to your bank acc and money is gone.

What's the difference between doing a sim swop when phone is off or on? I mean the sim will be deactivated off network whether phone is off or on.

Maybe monitor your bank account, change passwords from another pc.

This sounds like an urban legend. Can you link to any reliable info on this scam?

Are you with MTN and do you bank with ABSA?

Maybe its just a stupid person doing pranks. I get such, they stop as soon as I try to subscribe them to as many of the dodgy ringtone providers I can find (that is if I have the number).

Been done couple times and was in major newspapers.
All they need is someone at network and bank.

This is true it has been mentioned a lot in the scam forums :)

Tell him to go fsck himself and that you are coming for him as well and that you can meet him half way.

Or move.

Yeah, I can't see how your phone being on or off would affect the sim swop scam.

If your phone is of you won't notice the sim has been swopped, you also upset with them and will leave phone of for maybe 1/2 hours and by then you have been scammed.
