Night terrors!!!

No but a friend of mines 4 yr old gets them.. It is not a nice thing..

Edit: Tips - sorry :(

I know for kids they give a syrup type medicine.. Maybe check with the chemist if there is something for adults.

Some random info:

I get them when I'm sleep deprived.

Hot shower before bed might help.

Take a multi vitamin....there is one thing that causes them if its missing....but I don't know which, hence multivit.

Make sure room temp is fairly low.

Don't drink booze before sleep. (tricky, I know)

The only time I ever get nightmares is when I blame myself for who I am, what I've done and stressing about it.

It's a sad thing to live in during that time, but I try to remind myself when I start beating on myself, that I am valuable and that I should not see my life as something which is punishment.

Main thing to remember, you are who you are, but you aren't who are during a bad time. You aren't who you are during a good time either. When you are yourself, the true person, is when you are alone in your own company, off the internet, without anyone near you and where you have to answer to yourself.

I'm not suggesting secluding yourself, that is very unhealthy, but the most unhealthiest is thing is to be hard on yourself when it's not needed, for instance if you had a disagreement with someone and or if you failed at something.

You are not a failure, whoever you are and nothing will ever make you a failure either, no circumstance, no life occurrence, you are valuable and you matter and forgiving yourself is the first step.

It's fine and dandy to forgive another person for their wrong doings, but always remember to forgive yourself as well. Also, if you don't have a problem forgiving yourself, remember that you should forgive someone else in the same manner, since you know that you have done worse knowingly than they have.

Have a good night's rest.

An extra tip, try to get a proper massage from a qualified beauty therapist or physiotherapist. Just a back and neck massage, nothing funky.

I had one last night from my beauty therapist friend and I slept literally like a rock, no waking up, no sound entering my mind, no dreams, just absolute rest.

You are very fortunate, since bad dreams as an adult are far worse than being a child.

The best thing about my last overseas trip - the blissful/peaceful sleep I had. Sleep with one eye open here.

Seriously. I'm surprised you're still living here. How do you deal with it? I'd be on the first plane out.

You deal with your problems, you don't run from it.

Capische? ;)

These "night terrors" are not just nightmares though.. It is very hectic and scary.. It is actually a condition, for lack of a better word...

You can't even wake the child/person up while they are screaming and it is horrific to watch.. The fear on the persons face, in my case a child, had me in tears watching.. Very scary..

+1

It's very freaky.

When I wake up, I dunno what's going on.

Luckily I don't have it often. About once every 2 weeks.

There was a program on BBC knowledge last week about night terrors and sleep walking. Apparently night terrors are hereditary and it occurs (if I remember correctly) when a person doesn't get proper REM sleep.

My parents don't get it.

It's bad ass stuff. I wake up totally messed up, heart beating million times a minute, sweating...

I think I'm losing my mind..
