Nighttime Panoramas

But the lab processing your film almost certainly does.

Of course, but that's their problem :D

I'm glad to be done with film.

I'm certainly missing having instant access to my pictures, but there is so much that the SLR gives me but the compact doesn't.

You dont seem to be using that G9 much - dont you enjoy it?

I use it a lot for stuff I don't put on flickr. Happy snaps at the company braai, etc. Since my passport got taken along with the 40D, I haven't travelled at all, and I've been pretty busy at work, so not much time to go out shooting for pleasure.

But as a hobby or passion I can understand your thing for film ;) I have many such quirks myself :o

It's about more than just the hobby/passion. The SLR (even my 30 year old one) can do some things the compact just cannot. Like 30min shutter times, f/2, shallow DOF, not to mention much wider angles and better reach, thanks to the lenses I have for it. 800 ISO looks way better on film than on a P&S, and as basic as my Rebel is, it's flash exposure (probably my biggest complaint with P&S cameras) is far superior.

Oh, and I don't look like a dork when I use my external flash :)

I was actually considering one of those small speedlights for my P&S :)

I'd be interested to see if the smaller Canon flashes actually work properly in this regard. The G9 has the four pins for TTL, but it doesn't seem to work. Fortunately I know how to use a flash in manual mode.

Almost night time . . twilight.

Nice bwana ! The twilight thing looks pretty interesting.

This whole night panoramic thing might actually yield some pretty sweet pics :-) I have been thinking of driving out to my parents farm next to Spier this weekend to do some more long exposure night time panoramas. But maybe I should also attempt the twilight thing.

Thanks.

I wanted to do more than 3 shots but even with the assist function it seemed impossible doing it handheld without reference points . . . and I had takeaways in the car and a hungry crew at home. :)

Excellent work chau - were those long exposures or just normal shots that you stitched ?

they were long exposures. f22, 25s and ISO 100

I want to add a pic. Whats the easiest way of doing this. Im still new to this site, as u can see.
