Here are two photos of the same subject. The first is out of the camera, and the second is edited from RAW (to give an idea of both scenarios).





Note that the sensor is a one inch CX type, which is smaller than on a DSLR. The image quality is broadly comparable to a recent smartphone, with the the advantage being in the range of focal lengths offered by the lenses.

How well does this system do macro photography? I currently use an iPhone 7 for this task (which has limitations wrt depth of field being nearly impossible to adjust)

There is no macro lens with this system, so performance is typical of a camera without this.
