Nikon announces D90

I think I'm still going to go for the D40 as my first DSLR, and maybe upgrade to the D90 later if I feel I need the features - the D40 is so cheap that I don't mind even if I upgrade in a years time. That lens has a very useful range though! Might buy that before a new body!

Damn, after looking at the video clips, it is looking quite tempting to me - then again, I could just buy a camcorder...

that video mode might turn out to be unusable (can you set everything manually? what's the codec like?)

if you want to shoot video, get a video cam

Exactly. I remember reading on some forums that some users said that if Canon came out with a dSLR with this feature that they will not be supporting Canon. A dSLR should be just that - a dSLR.

Time will tell... The example videos look pretty good though.

Interesting... No one is forced to use the video feature or live view for that matter ;)

Indeed, but it's about them moving away from the main focus, which is a camera and slipping into other areas :)
IMO, if you want to make videos, get a video cam. If you want to take pics, get a dSLR.
