Nikon D5 (FX) and D500 (DX) Announced

But with Zuma's imploding of the economy and the Rand, how many can still afford these ?

USD2000 for the D500. Wonder what this will be sold for in SA ?

My D7200 is not quite up to my requirements (noise at high iso, fps, buffer).

Would love to get the D500.

My FX cameras are ok, and, in any event, the D5 is quite out of my price range.

I thought they fixed the buffer on the D7200?

I know it was frustrating as hell when I still had my D7100.

D7200 is much better than the D7100, which was almost unusable for wildlife / action.

But still not quite good enough.

I get 13 image buffer with 12-bit raw with D7200.

The D500 has a 79 image 14-bit raw buffer, so significantly better.

And $6500 for the D5… IIRC thats nearly $2000 more than canon's 1Dx. :eek:

Yeah - Canon's SA price for the 1Dx is actually lower than the US price once you take VAT into account.
 
I was talking to one of Die Son's photographers and he says they're switching to Canon due to the pricing and support.
 
The D5 looks impressive, but I can't see how a photographer running a small business could justify spending 110k + on a body.

The D750 is far better value for money.
 
There was a rumor that Nikon may switch over to Samsung sensors. Does anyone know what brand of sensor these new cameras are using?

If only Canon didn't suck as much, I would switch.
 
I had an idea to buy the D750 this year, but darn, that D500 is a nice camera for wildlife.

Depends on what sort of photography they're dealing with. Granted, as a Canon shooter, I've never spent that much on a body but I probably will have to one day, seeing how things are going, just to stay in the game.
