Nikon Singapore Pte Ltd is pleased to announce the launch of the new D750, the smallest and lightest Nikon FX-format camera*1 to deliver incredible image quality in an ideal package of enriched features. The D750 enables the freedom of photographic expression with sought-after functionalities of built-in Wi-Fi®*2, tilting monitor, 24.3 megapixels, 91K-pixel RGB sensor, and outstanding high-speed continuous shooting rate of approximately 6.5 frames per second*3 for both FX- and DX-format, all fitted into a slim and durable body.

The innovative D750 challenges the common assumption that the higher a DSLR’s specifications, the bulkier it becomes. The D750 includes revolutionary technologies designed to offer a strong, lightweight camera without compromising image quality. Its powerful FX-format CMOS sensor and EXPEED 4 image-processing engine are packed into a monocoque structure framed by carbon fiber composite material (new material*4), and magnesium alloy to provide nimble durability while producing beautiful, balanced shots. Aimed at a discerning audience, the D750 is a superior camera with similar full-scale features and performance as those in the high-end range to offer photographers the room to expand their capabilities and evolve their skills.

I normally do not like flip-out screens, but this one seems to be fairly sturdy.

I wonder if Nikon is going to kill off the D6x0 line soon --- the D750 seems to be purposely limited to 1/4000 s (cheaper shutter than D8x0?). If they drop the price on the D750, they will put some serious pressure on the 6D.

But it seems as if Nikon is convinced that people would rather buy a somewhat crippled full-frame body (D6x0) than a high-end DX body (missing D400), so they are likely to keep the D6x0 around as entry level FX.

Somewhat unrelated: The SB500 speedlight looks like a very nice entry level flash, much more attractive than SB400 that could only swivel along one axis.

Nikon Recalls the D750 Again Over the Same Shutter Issue

Nikon just announced that it’s expanding its recall of its D750 DSLR over the shutter issue that caused ugly lens flares to show up in some photographers’ photos.

As you may remember, photographers first noticed and began complaining about the issue back in December 2014. After the reports spread widely online, Nikon quietly pulled the D750 from store shelves around the world, and then officially confirmed that it was making repairs on affected cameras, which were found to be those produced between October and November 2014.

Well, unfortunately for Nikon D750 shooters, those weren’t all the cameras that were affected. Nikon issued another D750 service advisory yesterday, announcing that the recall is being expanded to D750 DSLRs made between December 2014 and June 2015.

Are we allowed to ask what colour these flares are, or is it too early?

and BTW: It does seem that Nikon has bad luck with shutter problems.

Planning on trading my D800 for the D750.

The D750 is truly fantastic. It has the same sensor as my camera but the IQ is just way, way better. It's unfortunate about the shutter issues, although I have to say my D600 is purring along nicely at 70k clicks after replacement...

Yeah, I see that my serial number is among the list of affected D750 cameras.

Has anyone spoken to Nikon SA about this ?

They replaced my D600 shutter no questions asked last year, 2 years after the recall was initiated. Best is to just call them and ask, on the other hand if you haven't had issues then why bother? Seems like it's an issue only pertinent under specific conditions. Anyway if you decide to replace, ask them to order the parts and call you when it's there. Otherwise you might spend a while without a camera :)

Thanks, seems sensible.

Are you happy with the D600 shutter replacement ? I'm a bit nervous about them taking my camera apart, I haven't always been completely happy with work that they did on some of my lenses.

Because you get a new shutter… for free?

Well if that's the only reason then why not wait till the current one has some significant mileage? They'll honor the replacement for a few years still

I don't know how much mileage his current shutter has done but in my experience shutters have never failed at an opportune time.
