Nikon D800e & Warranty

Hi all

My wife is nagging me to get her a Nikon D800E. Yes, it's expensive and I seriously doubt she would us it to it's full capacity, but nevertheless, I "might" get it for her.

My only snag is the warranty. We are due to emigrate within the next 2 months. I can't find anything regarding a worldwide warranty. Google shows some results, but not what I am looking for.
I'm rather of the mindset, get the camera in the country to which we are moving to get a usable warranty, rather than buying it here and taking a chance of it potentially getting damaged during transit.

Any suggestions or advice would be welcome.

As far as I know, Nikon warranties on the camera body are only valid in the country of purchase. The lenses do carry some kind of international warranty, though.

That is correct. The camera has a 1 year (but I heard that changed it to 3 years) local warranty and lenses have 5 year international warranty.

I don't like giving free advertisement, but I know OutdoorPhoto is having a new premises special where you can get the D800 (not the E) for R31 999
