Idd, dkp (if being used) records should have indicated that the item was already received

I didnt check to see what gear there was so when the loot master called the item I checked the helm and saw that it was a warrior dps item and rolled for it and won when I received the item I went to my gear and saw that I had the same item called a gm and asked him to give it to the guy who had the 2nd higest roll but while I was waiting for the GM the guy who rolled 2nd and my guildies picked up on it and I told them I am going to speak to a GM and give the guy the helm who it belongs to and thats what happend he received the helm and cleared my name with everyone for being a ninja except the 2 ppl in my guild still carried on about me being a ninja and etc big fight defending myself and in the end got me kicked. Sorry if my explination was a bit vague. Thats how it happend for what reason would I roll on and item and have 2 of the same? It was a mistake!

I agree they overreacted but why did you roll on it if you didn't check the specs against your current helm first?

Maybe they cited your lack of punctuation as a reason ;)

To be quite frank, you now do sound like a Ninja. You roll on items just because it is a warrior/dps item regardless if you would need it... Maybe ninja aint the right name for it, but I would not like to raid with you on a casual basis if that is your loot philosophy.

That is not even close to my loot philosophy. I dont know y I didnt check it to my gear maybe rushed for time I dont know but what I do know is that it was a mistake roll I did give the item to the correct person and I have never been a ninja in the 2 years I have played WOW and believe me not going to start now. Everyone can believe what they want to believe. But thats the full account of events that happend I fixed the mistake I made and was cleared more than that I dont know

We refer to that as epic blindness

aye...
1. Loot pops up
2. Is this an upgrade? If Yes, then goto 3
3. Roll

2 and 3 are not interchangeable.

A larger problem is that you didn't announce your mistake. To everyone else, it looked like you were caught in the act.

I would have told them "tis for FR gear for malygos " If it was an Armageddon/Jawbone or something a bit more important than a helm, i'd have blamed my brother for clicking the wrong button while I was afk :p

My loot habits are usually checking up in Atlas Loot (while fighting, pfft only noobs move out of the fire :p) what drops that I can upgrade to, then wait for the name and spam the raid till i get it

btw Jk about the fire, i check up while on trash ;) Sarriss knows how laid back our guild is

I understand that ppl make mistakes BrianStephan, but mistakes costs lives ;)

Tell the two id10ts in your ex guild to go do their homework or something, the problem has been rectified and the guy that came second got his loot, end of discussion.

While we on this roll philosophy. I check what loot dropped as soon as it's clear to do so (you never know if some dumb rogue forgot to step out of the fire and released after he died....that after he "/yell DAMN N00B HEALERS!!!!"[jk]). Once I went through all the loot and scanned what I can use, I start comparing and I always make sure that it is an upgrade before I type /roll and wait for the announcement to roll for item ABC.

With 3.1 and duel spec looming, I will ALWAYS ask all other similar classes/specs of my intention to gear up a certain kit and ask permission to roll on loot if it should drop, I then make it known to the raid leader/loot master of the responses I got. I got the T7 Elemental gloves in VoA hc the other day (I'm still enhancement) and the one guy imediately shouted but I am Enhance....BUT, because I asked everybody (including this guy) and made it known to the raid leader/loot master, the discussion ended even before it began.

Likewise if I am rolling for something not on my main spec, I declare that it is an offspec roll, and will only take consideration if none want it on main spec

Here is a quick question for everyone. What would you do if you won an item (right gear for your class/spec but also usable by others) and then shortly afterwards a similar class specific item (but different spec) drops where you are the only person for that class. Need or Greed?

I'd Offspec Greed it (plate healing gear if i was the only pally (specced Prot) in the raid would be a perfect example). With our DKP system, greeding means it doesn't cost dkp :p

So if there was a pally class specific healing gear you would still greed and you were the only pally in the raid. I would expect the guild to award it to you regardless as the dual spec in the future may change your role.

Our raid assumes who'll roll for it, confirms with them over vent and asks them to roll/gives them item.
