Nintendo DS

My question is: I have a laptop, and when I'm away from home I game on that. Would it really be worthwhile to get a DS? Also, do you have to strain your eyes to see the screen? Coz I don't want to get a headache from playing.

I don't know. I haven't used it yet. Still looking for Durbanites with a DS to try it out! Check Wikipedia for the specs

Oh so u were only going ballistic with the games alone?
What if you can use wifi, use the browser, battle other players, and all the other glorious stuff.
I... NEED... A... DS!!!

but in this counrty its going to be hard. untill the DS get the recognition it deserves.

Everybody is just PSP crazy (CRAP!).
My friend reciently bought a PSP. When I tell my friends im goin for the DS they wanna know why I want to go for a DS which, in their opinion, dont come close to the PSP with its fancy graphics, big screen and other features (which i could care less about)

Im still goin for the DS, and besides November is the month of the release of the MP3 player for the DS

Luckily it's only the people in this country who have been brainwashed by Sony. It's the other way around globally.

One of the first thing people do when they criticize the DS is talk about it's inability to play MP3s. What they don't understand is that the DS is a pure gaming (and revolutionary) machine (unlike the PSP).

If you want to play your Mp3's, get a Mp3 player (iPod) or a better cell phone.

My thoughts exactly. especially when they talk about the videos, im not that much into watching movies, i don't need the extra features of the PSP. my PC can do all that an 10 times better, or my cell phone is also good enough for playing music if i want to.

Im all into playing games

Don't be Sony sheep, break the monotony. Try www.take2.co.za. Their games, prices and services are excellent! I ordered my Animal Crossing from them with no issues at all and they have a wide range of Nintendo DS games.

People may *think* that the PSP is cool, but it ain't. The only appealing thing is it's big screen.

I think I'm going to get Animal Crossing next...I like games with some sense of freedom in them. I'd really like to try out the wifi play - over the net. That could be fun.

How's mario cart? Do you play online? Was thinking of getting it..but want to get a non-mario game first :) (already got NSMB)

How do you find New SMB? Its on my list 4 when I get my DS. and also Sonic Rush.

I'd say it's a must get :D

Quite enjoyable...lots of interesting stages. Looks great and plays just as well. I'm almost finished with it, but there's a lot of extras that I can go back for, like secrets and more levels.

Also includes some mini games, utilising the touch screen and mic, to keep you busy with for a while ;)

Uh, point of order, the DS CAN play MP3's and even mpg4 movies!. There's 3rd part adapters out already, by on it's way in November from Nintendo themselves: http://www.nintendo.co.za/play_yan.asp

Sony fanboys, stick that in your PSP and smoke it :D

I heard about that Play Yan thingy-ma-bob, but I shall give it a miss. Mario Kart DS is awesome - it's got many tracks to race on and has quite a few extras and unlockables as well.

Sonic Rush is by far one of the best Sonic's I've played. The stages are long, it utilizes both screens, music is good, graphics are good and It's also one of the hardest Sonic's I've ever played.

I'm looking at getting Pokemon:Emerald (GBA) for my DS next - that shall keep me amused until Diamond/Pearl comes along. Thank God for backward compatibility.

I wonder if the Play Yan will be available in stores, or will it only be available on Nintendo.co.za

Sonic Rush is a must get 4 me. Im also waiting on Pokemon Diamond and also Castlevania: Portrait Of Ruin...
Oh an of course FF3, how can I 4get.

Yeah, it's a pretty high-in-demand game. Luckily I got mine from BT Games; I just walked into the shop, looked at the shelf and it was there! Quickly grabbed it and payed for it...

lol yeah just to bad there isn't a BT here in Cape Town.

The only store i can think of that have DS games is Toys R Us.

And check this... "Hi-FI corp" is the only place where i can find a DS (phat), Incredible don't sell it anymore (PSP is Ruling). don't know if TRU still has coz last time i checked they where sold out, an recently when i asked if they hav the new Lite, they said probably end of the month (September), didn't go back to check yet.

Ah God Bless South Africa.... I guess Online is the best way now.
