Nintendo WII + Internet Access

Hello

I have just finished setting up my Nintendo WII to connect to my Wireless Network. This all worked fine. When searching for Wireless Networks my WII found my SSID with out hassles and after entering my encryption details it successfully connected to my network and then successfully upgraded its software to the latest version (indicates Internet connectivity to me?)

However I am now unable to do anything else such as visit the WII Shop or the WIIConnect24 Channel. I am also unable to found either MII's etc in the MII Channel

Are these services available for South African users and if so what am I doing wrong?

The shop was unavailable, so I set my location to UK, which worked fine. Can't recall what else worked though Did a few votes with the Wii Vote thing that also worked fine.

Just came across another post mentioning the U.K thing. Will test this at home after work today. Hopefully it works. I want my MII's to mingle hehe

Does anyone know if I have a friend in the UK with a WII also connected to the internet can we interact with each other in anyway. Being able to play games with each other would be cool

Think that mario racing game is the only multiplayer out there, and interaction is limited to messages, iirc.
