Heya Natas, good to see you on here mate. A bit OT, but what you doing about yer Wii since Liksang got pwned?

Don't really know. Even when I had pre-ordered there wasn't much info bout regional encoding. So far, my N64 and my GC were both American systems and it was a pain getting US games. If a system will come out in RSA, and we dont have to wait so long, then I will wait. Otherwise, I might try toys n joys (well thats if they havent been lik-sanged by Sony [Yes, I'm afraid the term "lik-sanged" might have acquired a different meaning ]) failing that my, mother-in-law is going to the States in December, I might ask her to get me one.

I saw amazon had the wii's on pre-order for around $250 ?? I think the final price will be around R2800....

Yeah but Amazon apply the whole "This product is intended for sale and distribution within the United States of America, Mexico and Hawaii. Blah , Blah, Blah"

They sell DVD's to anyone, anywhere in the world but when it comes to stuff like games they refuse to. I used to buy stuff from them and actually bought my N64 from EBworld ( www.EBworld.com ), but that was before both of them starting applying regional shipping restrictions. irritating. The truth is that sites Lik-Sang did what they did for the good of all mankind. Who is Sony to say that some starving kid in Burundi cant have a Nintendo Wii. Where will he get it now? Answer me that?

Thanks for the play-asia link Doobiwan...looks like they are quite good. I would shop there but then I would feel like I was cheating on Lik-Sang.....I am still in mourning....I just hope that one day when I am ready to buy, they are still there.

DigiSoldier - Are they taking pre-orders? is anyone in SA taking pre-orders!?!?!?!

ive been looking into buying a console at the moment its between the wii and 360,if anyone here knows can what specs the wii has please post em,ive heard its the weakest of the big 3 but im very interested in it.
 
Depends what you mean by weak. It has less processing power, but much more interesting control methods. We'll have to wait and see what sort of games come out for it.
 
Yeah Ubber,

You can't really compare them. Check Wikipedia for full specs and details, but basically Wii is only slightly more powerful than the Xbox 1, and doesn't do Hi Definition at all.

But Nintendo's stated goal is that it's meant to be cheap cheerful and accessible, with a new way to play, rather than just better looking of the same old thing.

The first telling bit is that the Wii is on almost every "hot list" for Xmas, from Toys R US to Time magazine, and the others aren't.
 
i had a look at the new Zelda comming out "wow" looks good,so basically wii is going to be a family based console were the whole family can sit and mess around,not saying that the other consoles arent family orientated.

the control looks somewhat interesting,should make out for some fun times

price is roughly set at 2,8k - 3k sooo that still means the 360 is cost effective.Let me wait as you said and check who will win the console wars.But at the mo im leaning towards 360 BUT wii is so damn cute the GF's is gonna love it.;)

Get the 360 now and the Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii in Feb-March when we have some decent games here.

You can't have one without the other :D....

(Not considering that every single major and minor online and offline publication loves them ;) )

Yeah, ubber depending on your budget and time frame, the 360 is a lovely machine, but to reap full benefit (Live, demo's, movies etc), you need the hard drive. Wii's is quotes as R2000-R2800 from ninty za, so say average R2400. (I also like to remind folks that the Wii has WiFi built in, which is a $100 extra for the 360 ;) )

Personally I'm going for the Wii first and waiting for the 360 Pro price to drop. I also suspect a lot to change with the 360 in the next year or so, like bigger Harddrives, built in HD-DVD, etc (just rumours) but I don't mind giving it time to settle.
