Hi all perhaps someone can assist me

I'm going to be buying a 2nd hand 2016 X-trail soon and more than likely getting one without the navigation/entertainment system. I contacted my nearest Nissan dealer and got a quote from them to fit an aftermarket unit that they sell and fit for R16000-00! This is the only unit they will fit. Nationwide

After doing a bit of research I realised that there are a lot better aftermarket units out there for a fraction of the price and can be self fitted very easily. They're android based which offers a lot more versatility and are specifically designed for the X-trail/Qashqai

Does anyone have any advice regarding this topic?

Warranty... That might void your warranty. First ask Nissan. Tell them you want to fit that unit and ask them if won't that void your warranty. And try to get it in writing just to cover your behind.

The nav system is quite worth it in my opinion. I have the whole "techno pack" that includes cameras around the car, lane departure warning, blind spot monitors and the large touch screen infotainment system. Oh, it also comes with larger (darker) wheels. My neighbour's wife has the exact same car without the techno pack and I've driven hers before, but I missed the big touch screen and bird's eye view when reversing and parking.

CASKA makes aftermarket units for Nissan and other brands that looks similar to the OEM units. I was looking at one for the SO's Qashqai.

I have a friend who has a shop in Durban that does a lot of installs of these for dealers in Durban ie Nissan, Hyundai, Kia etc.

Nissan fits the Caska if your model didn't come from the factory with a nav system. That's what they quoted R16000 for... the android units such as this one http://www.stopshop.co.za/navigatio...roid-nissan-navigation-m353-roadnav-s160.html seem to offer a lot more and are way cheaper. Plenty vids on youtube with previews of the android systems. Nothing for Caska

Hi there, I know that I am resurrecting a thread of a few years ago, but I also own a Nissan X-Trail and looking for an aftermarket infotainment system for it. Would be keen to hear with what system the OP eventually ended up going with.

I got myself the 2020 Nissan X-Trail 2.5 Accenta which comes with a standard car stereo, nothing flashy at all. I would have loved the Techna model, but the budget just did not allow for it at all.

The salesperson advised me to, instead of getting Nissan to install one to contact Radio Autosonic in Bellville here in Cape Town regarding the OneNav system which is brought in by PlanetWorld. I gave them a call and at R16k including front and rear camera, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto capability and that it runs Android, it sounds pretty cool.

But does anybody have any feedback on this system and any other alternatives I can look at? Reviews on this unit are non existent. I really need something that is snappy to use, boots quickly, has regular software updates and maintenance to fix bugs, security patches, etc and does not have any annoying niggles. Many of these Android units tend to be slow, etc so would hate to get something that is going to annoy me on the first day.
