NO 24 hour support?!?!?!?!?

Oh my word! Guess who I get a call from now, at 7:03 this morning. Afrihost, calling to follow up on my Help SMS that I sent the night before last after 8pm. WHAT A JOKE!

see, they do have 24 hr support :crylaugh:

Anyway, I don't have the time to fight this and trouble-shoot Afrihost's network for them. I have given up. Seems Afrihost Uncapped accounts (doesn't matter which fancy one you are on) - between 6pm and 10pm you get the <brown stuff> shaped/throttled out of you.

Moving to an Afrihost capped fibre connection until early next week (not gonna try and swap ISP's right before a weekend!!) Then I am off to Vox - their capped accounts are cheaper and their Fatpipe connection has worked very well for me in the past.

Adios.

I am not om a fibre line. Sometimes Github downloads fine, some time it takes aaages. Is it not maybe their servers that's the problem?

Are you using our services? I did find out that the file is located and many different servers and every time you pull a request for the file to be downloaded locally it will come from a different server. I could see that this was the case because there was a different source IP address when I downloaded the file on my side. It seems like the file is located somewhere in the US and this means this it would download a little slower than normal.

I'm with Axxess. So probably related? . But I also think it is the international servers from Github side. Other websites are fine.

LOL!

Actually 48 hour support. Expect a call 48 hours after requesting help :)

All call backs are stopped after 19:00 and any call backs that are placed after the fact are answered in the morning. :)

We are still available via Email and Whatsapp if you need us. :)

I am sorry to hear that you have been having such a rough time here. I have been doing my best to assist you via PM, but if you feel that moving to another provider is the best course of action I cannot stop you.

In the meantime though, I would very much like to continue working with you as it is very important to me to find out what the cause is so that this can be resolved. Can we continue to work via PM?

They do run through our network, but as far as I understand there are some policies that are different. However, it really shouldn't make a difference. :)

You do realise that they were a day late? I logged it the evening before last - so according to your logic, they should have called me yesterday morning, not THIS morning. Which is anyway beside the point - the point is that there is NOBODY from Afrihost's side to assist customers to trouble-shoot after hours - WHILE THEY ARE HAVING THE ISSUES. And traceroutes after the fact, the following day, is just not good enough.

Anyway, as far as I am concerned, the case is now closed. I am moving on.

I can see what you are talking about here. You really should have been called on the 24th. I can see that you did send an SMS though and we are starting to phase out this call back feature in replacement of our new one through the ClientZone. You will see if you place a call back there you will get a call back a lot sooner.

UPDATE: All my problems have now been resolved. Downloaded a 235Mb file in a flash from GitHub between the 6-10pm window. No more issues downloading from GitHub - like it should be. Ping in gaming much better as well.

The only solution that worked, was moving to Cool Ideas.

Even on Afrihost capped data, I was still being shaped/throttled during the 6-10pm window. How/why, I don't know and now don't care anymore.

And Cool Ideas is so much cheaper for a 10/5 uncapped fibre line... I have finally found internet bliss (tm)
