In view of the fact that iBurst is discriminating against its “month to month” clients by not making the additional bandwidth available to them, I have concluded that iBurst does not want these clients any longer.

Please cancel this account as at 31/03/2007.

Kindly acknowledge receipt of this email and confirm 31/03/2007 as the last day of iBurst service to me.

Sonette, please inform me when the payment of the credit for R365 is made into my bank account. Because my account and iBurst’s account are both with Nedbank, I will see the credit in my account on the same day.

I for sure am leaving, seeing that I am on a 3Gig Month-to-Month and for the past 8 months the service in my area is so crap, even their technicians can't come up with a solution. The Technician from their towers was at my place and could not get a proper signal from the overload [HIS WORDS TO ME] tower which is only 1.6km from my property in a clear line. I for sure will not sign a contarct just to get the 500mb extra and then after a few weeks struggle to get a proper connection. If they can for sure give me a proper connection 24/7, maybe, but after this kind of treatment, I rather go for an more expensive service which I can use anywhere in the country and not only in certain parts of the country.

My e-mail was also escalated. I suspect they didn't expect the reaction they are getting and haven't gotten around to scripting standard replies for the help desk yet. So, now is the the time to let them know of your dissatisfaction, before they get the help desk processes in place to insulate middle (and perhaps upper) management from the customer reaction to their poor decision.

I am waiting for Telkom to come back to me on the availability of an ADSL connection. Let's see who gets to me first.

Why would anyone, who already owns a modem, want to go on a contract and pay the additional R100??? For the 500 MB that anyway cost R2/MB at other mobile internet providers? So, effectively, you are getting exactly what you are paying for PLUS you are bound to a crappy service .... hmmmm

If only you knew........

The complaints that are coming from 3G clients are MUCH more than those from iBurst.

I've just sent an email to the [email protected] email addy asking them to explain the rationale of alienating their month to month contracts. I am quite interested as to what the response will be.

Its because MTN's competitive packages don't come in a month-to-month flavour thus they needn't see increase the competitive edge THAT much :P

So has anyone who emailed iburst re: the month-to-month issue heard back from them? I sent a message last week and haven't heard from them.

EDIT: other than a short note on Friday to say that it had been escalated.

Lack of replies to emails from iBurst is yet another of saying "screw you"

Very curious as to what iBurst's response will be to the 'alienating month-to-month users'....

Same. I wanted to send the same message, especially seeing as I might move to ADSL, which would at least give me some satisfaction if I can send another e-mail requesting cancellation because they took too long to answer :p

Send the email asking. They must see that we are not just going to sit back and take up the proverbial.

Ja, sent e-mail to these addresses

No response at all  very very typically South African.

Even if they see it, they simply don't give a ****. They feel f**k-all ole chap, as long as the pocket is lined and as someone else said, there's at least 50,000 other sheep out there to sucker into contracts when we have left, which is the problem and makes voting with your feet kinda like a drop in the ocean. I swear, this is the biggest don't care nation in the world.

Anyhow, like I said, this time I mean it. Waiting to move into my own house and get ADSL, finished and klaar. At least I can still pull some strings from within Telkom, some of my colleagues still work there so the assrape is not so bad.

Nearly drove my car off the road today when I heard the iburst radio ad promising an extra 500mb free on all 24month contracts. 5 days since my email and still no constructive response.

So.. if things aren't resolved by May when my MTN contract is up for renewal I'm thinking of getting a 3G bundle and holding a UTD bonfire- because it looks like the resale value will plummet.

I suspect by end April I will not be an iBurst subscriber. Sad. When I joined up I thought they had a lot of potential. But sadly I cannot give my money to someone who treats my money with no respect. And to top it off in a blatent manner. I will be keeping the modem though just in case developments arise. I see the cost as a sunk cost.
