No any device exists ! WTF ?

When my Asus P7P55 boots it says scanning for devices, please wait... after a while a red message comes up below it saying : " No any device exists !" and then proceeds to boot.

What is it scanning for ? All my devices are installed and working. Never seen this before.
 
Hey Hey

You can disable the IDE controller in the BIOS if you have no IDE drives connected.

This is what I suspect is giving you that message.

Thanky you. I wondered if it was some legacy device. I'll give it a try
 
OK problem solved thanks. The IDE controller was diabled but seems i had to set each of the empty SATA connectors to "not installed" vs "auto-detect". Well thats what I did and the message is gone.
