I've capped my Web Africa account so switch over to Afrihost and topped up with 2GB+2GB but can't authenticate. I've tried Web Africa and it authenticates fine although I don't have web access, and I've tried my Mweb uncapped account and it works perfectly. I've tried changing my Afrihost password but to no avail. Is anyone else having authentication issues at the moment?

Never mind, I should learn to look around first

Evening guys

We are receiving reports of client unable to authenticate new sessions on our broadband network, including DSL and Mobile Data. Our network engineers are currently investigating with MTN to determine the cause of this. Some clients may be unable to connect to the internet due to this problem. Client who are already connected should remain connected, and we encourage not to reboot their routers until the problem has been resolved. We sincerely apologise to affected clients for the inconvenience.

Really sorry about the downtime :(

Please close.

Again! :wtf: I had this problem last night, I wonder why its taking so long to resolve

i only use my afrihost (with line) account to watch netflix and hulu. of that, 80% is barney and winnie the pooh for my daughter. and since about 2 months ago, my auth has been dropping 5 times a day at least - line and sync stable - just a sudden disconnect from the endpoint...

something fishy is going on....

truth is... a haywire shaping algorithm? i only use my afrihost (with line) account to watch netflix and hulu. of that, 80% is barney and winnie the pooh for my daughter. and since about 2 months ago, my auth has been dropping 5 times a day at least - line and sync stable - just a sudden disconnect from the endpoint...

I blame your SNR.

i tried to put in my capped info into my router... but it wasn't authenticating, kept saying username or password is incorrect, but the day before, i was using it on my laptop for work....

then i went back to my other isp info and everything is fine... i'll contact AH today to see whats the problem

Try again, they had an issue with authenticating

Well AH can authenticate this .....

If my connection keeps going down and I keep being given the authentication excuse, my payment will go down comensurately and they take that as being authentic!!

My fault log to Afrihost read as follows:

“WRT your radius server fault: "DSL & Mobile Authentication Medium Impact 20:11, 30 Jun 2014"

I think that Afrihost is lying to its clients. This is what, the "THIRD" month in a row that this mysterious problem is occurring? (sic: on the last day of the month.)
I think that Afrihost has run out of bandwidth... probably on a peering network between MTN and Telkom (or such similar finance related screw-up).

If I am wrong, then prove it to us, your clients!”

I'm 99.9% positive that you're wrong. They cannot just "run out of" bandwidth, they purchase bandwidth in Mbps/Gbps not by quantity.

Add a few 9's to the end of that. They just have a problem that they cant find (or don't know how to find and solve)...

Radius is a miserable thing to maintain and troubleshoot so I wouldn't think they are lying about it at all having been there and done that.

I struggled for months to find a problem with radius on a much smaller system so I can imagine it's giving them a really hard time.

They must be stressing so much!

Yip. I'm also unable to use my afrihost gigs.

Afriman transfer my unused data please, I couldn't use them today....
