I HATE Vodacom with a passion

/end vent

Wtf am I paying R70.00 when I need to SMS and use my Telkom SIM anyway?

Some of my friends think I joke whn I say it's down EVER SINGLE day - but it really is. EVERY SINGLE DAY for the past few months.

Ah ... 15kb in the past few minutes.

So get this 1.4MB app I'm looking at hours *sigh*

I have had ENDLESS issues with BIS - so much so, that friends SMS me rather than BBM as they know it'll be down.

I gave my other BB to my brother (Jackal Creek, Northriding) and the first thing he said is 'why is it always down?'. TWO Blackberrys (9700 and 9800) with TWO OS (OS5 and OS6) and got TWO SIMS (32k and 128k) - same issue. My advice is if you're in Johannesburg, BE WEARY of selecting Vodacom. If you're in Randburg or surrounds - don't be even bother.

I needed to change tyres on Friday down the road from me and sat in the waiting room for 50 minutes. 30 minutes of that was idle time looking at the photos on the wall because BIS was down so I couldn't browse :/

I'm down EVERY DAY without fail. It's at the point now if I think about using the phone, I have to wonder 'is it on? Is it going to work? Perhaps not even bother ...'

I had an engineer out here on Friday and await his report.

PS I'm on 918kb ... after 12 minutes
PPS I've received a 'problem with installation. Please try again' because it timed out ...

My friend every week has the same problem week after week he hesitate to switch networks as he being from vodacom for a long time but he hates his Blackberry thanks to vodacom so glad I do not use their network and I am a happy chap on the other network

It could just be the signal in your area. I have a MTN Blackberry and my wife has a Vodacom Blackberry. Her BIS (Vodacom) is always working and is usually very quick. Mine on MTN is rediculously slow every day!

Its because of the signal in my area (Rondebosch, CT) I only get a 3G signal if I stand in the garden or next to my bedroom window.

I'm moving to Vodacom in January. Can't bloody wait!

We in Durban which is not in Johannesburg so we do not share the same tower I fixed the vodacom issue by switching to the very same network you avoiding MTN happy ever since

My BIS is working fine, yet my handset is not receiving email and i cant seem to access the mobilemail website either.
Clearly a problem there, but here in CT there are almost NO BIS Issues, and after the service i have received from MTN in the past i would sooner switch to smoke signals that sign with MTN again, those guys far exceed the dictionary definition of useless, they could not even put the MTN logo next to useless in the dictionary as it would be a complete misrepresentation of the words actual meaning.

I'm very sure it's area specific - but I've had this MONTHS and it's off DAILY. My signal says -72dBm right now and I always have a full 5 bars - but I go from GSM > GPRS > EDGE > 3G > GPRS > OFF > GPRS > OFF > EDGE > 3G within about an hour.

I've *just* received a BBM from my brother '*** Vodacom! Says it's connected but I can't do anything!' so I replied 'I HATE them with a passion too!' - cept it hasn't even delivered :/

By the way, he's about 8km from me - so it's not a small block.

I'd just like them acknowledge they have major issues with both BIS and data in either Gauteng or Randburg rather than saying 'please dial 155 and report the fault. Thank you'

Incidentally when I did dial 155 yesterday, they had a recording 'we are aware of the BIS fault' ...

You might have a 32k sim or you reaced your 'free' internet limit and now you throttled.

I've just replying to this for the last hour - time out after time out :/

Basically, I have two Blackberrys : a BB9700 (OS5) and BB9800 (OS6).
I have a 32k, 64k and 128k SIM card.
I have 3 modems (E220, K3565 Rev 2 and Acer 7.2) using 3 different software (VC Lite, Mobile Partner and Globe Trotter)
I'm trying on 2 machines running WIn XP and Win 7.

Each gave the same error and I'm doubting everything can be wrong. I've also needed to get myself a Telkom SIM recently and it always works.

It's not only with BIS - it's their data as well. 70% of the time on GPRS (timing out, taking 5 minute to load any page etc), 20% on 3G and the remainder GSM or simply offline. It's at the point that when I pick up my phone, I'm actually doubting it's going to work. Had signal or the network been poor in my area from day 1, then I'd blame myself for signing up knowing that they network is terrible.

However, on the data side I'd get 140ms pings and 2mbps downloads a year back. The past 8 months? 240+ pings and 600kbps if I'm lucky. The entire morning I haven't seem a 3G signal on any device and even this post took about 5 or 6 attemps.

I'd never be throttled at the amount I can download anyway ;) It took me about an hour to get Facebook 1.9 (1.4MB) last night.

I'd love to take a photo ... ALL BBMs and throughput are not working - yet connected to BIS on 3G with full signal :/

Changing your apn to internet will land you a mega bill - paying for browsing and email
