No COD 3 for PC?

Howzit chaps,


My appologies if this has already been posted or is an old topic but ive had my head in the sand for awhile, but whats the deal with not releasing Call of duty 3 on pc? I see its been released console. I find this amazing. COD 1 and 2 were probably one of the best games i played. How the hell do you enjoy a game like that on an Xbox? you need a dam keyboard and mouse for a game like that! Sheesh...Am i alone here guys? :D
 
Yeah the COD series is one of my all time favorites on pc. Was sad to see the third installement not released on pc, but I must admit enjoying it on Xbox360.

I think more and more developers are releasing for consoles only because of piracy.

Also have you seen the COD4 trailer it looks awesome. Not sure if it will be released for pc though.

Same here - I even went and bought COD2 for the 360 even though I had it for the pc.
 
Its a dam pity! Ive seen snipets of COD3 and it awsome. COD4 better be on PC else im boycotting games forever :D Fat lot of help that would do. I had a PS2 for about 4 days and tried some FPS's on there and i just couldnt take it. I guess my brain is so used to a Keyboard and mouse. :D

Aaah another one that hasn't had the pleasure of playing with a 360 controller yet ;)

I use to think exactly the same thing, that was until I got my Xbox, the 360 controller is so innovative that you can play any game, even games requiring a high amount of precision (aka COD). Heck you can even play C&C 3 with it with great success! Try it, you won't believe me until you do, I couldn't believe it either :D
 
I assume you use one of that analogue pads to look around, how do you spin around quickly? do you use the digital pad to strafe / go backwards & forwards?

You usually use the left stick to move around and the right stick to look around. Then the triggers are for firing and taking cover or something.

Both the sticks and the triggers are very sensitive though, meaning that when you pull the stick all the way to the left/right you'll spin around quickly, but less movement on the stick means slower movement on the screen, giving you a lot more accuracy.
The triggers are the same, for instance in NFS you can drive at a constant speed by pulling the trigger only slightly, whereas pulling it all the way results in fast acceleration. So it's not like on a PC where you either press the button or you don't, there is now a lot more happening inbetween :D

I hardly ever use the D-Pad, it's usually only for selecting weapons or communicating. Of course this can be customized.

I forgot to mention, once you get used to the controller you're able to spin around quickly and then slow down right when you need to for a headshot or whatever you want to do. Stafing, walking forwards/backwards is also done with the left stick, again the same applies, to walk slowly just press the stick a little bit, to run press it all the way. You'll get used to it VERY quickly though! :D

Ive never played around with a 360. I think maybe i need to get myself around to playing on one and see what i think. I guess i get to play COD3 then dont i! Great success! :D

PS3 or 360? (this ones gonna cause some arguments :D)
 
I must agree there, the PS3 is a pocket burner. My credit card is already glowing this month :)

360 Looks good, im gonna do some research and maybe purchase meself one.
 
Frikkenator, you make it sound as if the controller is actually just as good as a mouse and keyboard for c&c3, i highly doubt that, and ive seen most reviews complain about the controls :/ Oh and COD 4 has been confirmed for pc aswell as ps3.

Faffy, nothing will beat a keyboard and mouse with RTS games, but C&C 3 on the Xbox is the closest you'll get to it. Go read the reviews on teamxbox.com and the likes, they all state that even though it's not as easy as on a PC it's still very playable and it doesn't hamper the experience a lot.
 
You are actually lucky that CoD3 never made it to the PC, its the worst of the whole series. It wasnt developed by Infinity Ward and it seems incomplete, rushed and not fun IMO. Collision detection is a joke, storyline aint too much to write about. The only thing that saves it is its polished multiplayer component which is the best of the CoD's trilogy thus far.

So CoD 4 seems like Infinity Ward's hot pudding for some revenge. :)
 
Thats a dissapointment. I didnt know they change developers. Good thing it didnt come to PC, i cant imagine they managed to get the same look and feel of the previous 2?
 
i really hope COD4's gameplay doesn't turn into that like battlefield or rainbow 6. Its gameplay is purely the reason its been so popular i think and ya, the trailer looks amazing but to be honest it could have been a trailer for battlefield or rainbow or anything else
 
Just finished COD2 last night. Holy f***!!! What an awesome, mind-blowing game! I mean COD1 was brilliant. COD2 just took it to another level.

I have just ordered my copy of COD3 and eagerly awaiting COD4.
 
COD 1 was a great game.. I actually bought it to play on my Linux system.. :o :D

It's one of those few Windows games which run 100% perfectly with Wine ... seriously.. I played the entire game and the United Offensive expansion pack on my Linux box - I kid you not. :)
 
COD 3 was done by console only developers TreyArch and not the original developers of series namely Infinity Ward who was working hard on COD 4 at the time which will be a PC and console release.

Both studios are owned by Activision and the agreement is that TreyArch does the odd numbered releases and Infinity Ward does even numbered releases of COD.
