No-Cost Red Hat Enterprise Linux Developer Subscription

As a Red Hatter I'm very happy with this announcement, I was a Red Hat customer a few years ago and this was an irritation, but that has now, fortunately, gone away.

I like your idea of using these subscriptions as learning tools with real RHEL. Achieving an RHCE or RHCSA cert is very challenging and any help is very welcome, I know I've been there.

With your mention of Red Hat Satellite and the community version Spacewalk... We are very big into Open Source community software and exploring the community versions is actually not a bad place to start. We employ many people to work directly with and in the open source software communities.
In the Satellite case our new Satellite 6 version is based on the Foreman project (Satellite 5 is based on Spacewalk) with a few pieces from the Katello community.

I don't want this post to read like a typical, old school, software vendor pushing things down people's throats (we are not like that), so please don't read this as that sort of response. I've been in the Open Source Software community for many years and I'm truly passionate about it. If anyone needs help in the Red Hat related side of the Open Source world, I'll help where I can. Please feel free to ask me.

Hi Ross,

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply.

It's really interesting to see that RH are active in SA and have people like yourself, taking part in the online communities.

I'm due to write my RHCE in June and then i'm looking at starting the long road to RHCA so i'm really happy with RH's decision as it gives me a bit more access to RH directly, as opposed to a rebuild system like CentOS.

I'll definitely take you up on your offer and contact in the future should I need anything.

Thanks!
