Hey folks! :D

I've been having a problem with my Phone Line for over a Month now.

My Line has VERY loud Static and a constant Light Sabre (Star Wars) sound when you pick up a handset. :wtf:

For the past week I've had NO Dial Tone.

I've also got a Billion 400G Router where the DSL and Internet Lights go off every 10 minutes or so.

I've had a Technician come out x4 and tell me that its NORMAL to have Static, however NO explanation could be given as to why my Phones dead. :erm:

I've changed filters, done the whole "Musical Chairs" switch with my phones, I've even purchased a new phone and checked each jack point individually. :)

ANY advice, would deeply be appreciated!

Advice from the PVD thread not long ago...

All i can say is if you have any of those REF numbers , post them here and state the area you in, perhaps you have others having a similar problem and can get together and do something about it :)

From all accounts it is definitely a problem with your line so you need a "clever" technician out.

I know what i say leaves much to be desired but coming together as a community can yield amazing results.

keep us posted.

you should go and log into your router and check your line noise and SNR margins if your line noise is high you will have connection problems

What? If your margin is high, You won't have connection problems ;)

Anyways, I have this problem intermittently on my line. The tech says it's probably a crossed line or something but the fault is in the underground cable in my particular situation so it's going to be a while before they fix it. Luckily im connected at 2mbps most of the time without any issues. Gud luck dude!!

The problem is definitely with your line!I would advise you to call telkom on the following number [10215].Ask them to check your signal to noise ratio, line attenuation as well as do a port refresh!;)
