I have a Gigabyte 8S661FXMP-RZ Motherboard that wont display anything.

When I switch the pc on all the fans and lights come on, there are long continuous beeps, which I understand is a memory problem? Surely the BIOS should still display though?
I have removed the memory modules and it still does it. I swap them around and try both in different slots.
Clearing the CMOS doesn't work either.

Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong? The memory slots have maybe gone?

Thanks

Hi
You should check if you maybe have bad capacitors you will see it in the link i have posted.
when you find a bulged capacitor on the top it may cause problems on your motherboard
also check your power supply.

My motherboard won't display POST data over DVI at the high resolution of my monitor. The first time I see anything displayed is when Windows loads. I can see POST data on a low res DVI monitor, and on any monitor over VGA. Don't know if this helps.

I didn't think to look for that, but having checked now, I can't really see anything wrong, all the capacitors seem to be fine.

Maybe I should take the board off and examine it in the sunlight to see properly. It is a pc that can be scrapped so it's not all that important, just want to see if I can maybe get it going again.

Thanks for the replies.

My sons PC (connected via DVI) does not POST beep or anything, it's caught me out a few times :)

This PC does beep lol, it beeps extremely loudly actually, long continuous beeps

Just check that the CPU supports on-board graphics, as CPUs like the i5 750 for example, require a graphics card. Should no graphics card be present, you will hear those beeps as well and have no display. Not sure if this applies to you (or your CPU), but have a look.

Quick question, if there is a problem with RAM the BIOS will still POST?
